Coronavirus Plasma Transfusions Show 'Positive Results': Report
A Milwaukee coronavirus patient has reportedly reversed course and is showing improvement after an experimental treatment.
MILWAUKEE, WI — Experimental blood plasma transfusions are showing some promise as treatment for the new coronavirus, a report suggests, as patients in Wisconsin are showing positive results. ABC12 reported doctors at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center are trying out the treatment.
The ABC12 report says a coronavirus patient was headed toward needing a ventilator, but is now showing some evidence of improvement after getting a blood plasma transfusion donated by a recovered coronavirus patient.
Dr. Ajay Sahajpal told ABC12 the patient is doing well and showing evidence of improvement. He added "the patient is not needing a ventilator and not progressing towards a ventilator... We want to have more people who have recovered and come forward and donate so that we can offer this treatment to more patients in Milwaukee."
