Dorshak Tree Specialists Adds Remote-Control Limb, Trunk Remover
Altec system reaches 90+ feet and grabs and cuts in one motion, providing faster, safer tree pruning and removal
Butler, Wis. – Dorshak Tree Specialists, southeastern Wisconsin’s complete tree trimming and tree removal service for 35 years, has acquired new equipment that greatly improves the speed and safety of tree operations, and reduces impact on customers’ properties.
The Altec Remote Controlled Tree Removal system grabs and cuts limbs and trunk sections in one motion, lessening disturbance to surrounding areas and greatly minimizing potential damage to yards and structures. With a 92-feet vertical reach, the unit allows fast, safe removal of high tree limbs and elevated trunk sections.
A horizontal reach of 79 feet allows the Altec RCTR to access most trees from driveways or streets, avoiding heavy machinery damage to lawns, planting beds and woodlands. Directed by an operator on the ground with a remote control, it carefully lowers freshly-cut limbs and trunk sections for chipping or removal, reducing brush and sawdust littering the surrounding area.

“The Altec RCTR represents a quantum leap that is revolutionizing the tree services industry,” said Myron Dorshak, owner of Dorshak Tree Specialists. “We can reduce by two-thirds the time needed to remove a whole tree, with much less disturbance to the surrounding area and debris to clean up.”
The long horizontal reach of the Altec RCTR is especially valuable in spring, he said, when lawns are soft and especially susceptible to damage. Being able to reach trees from a concrete or asphalt surface – and not drive onto grass – means no ruts or other lawn damage.

Trees of any size can be removed with the Altec RCTR. The machine can handle up to 10,000 pounds, allowing large trunk sections to be lifted and carefully removed, rather than dropping to the ground and gouging soil.
“The unit is especially helpful for trees close to, or growing over, houses, garages or sheds,” Dorshak added. “Its ability to grab, control and transfer freshly-cut pieces tremendously reduces risk of their accidentally falling onto a structure.”
Projects can be priced more affordably, too, as the efficiency and safety of the Altec RCTR requires fewer workers to remove or trim trees. For trees located deeper in backyards, Dorshak Tree Service has spider lifts that can fit through a 36-inch gate, and lift an arborist 83 feet to trim or remove limbs.
Dorshak reminded homeowners that Oaks and American elm trees should not be pruned in warmer months, except to remove hazardous limbs. Cutting live flesh risks introducing Oak wilt or Dutch elm disease.
The best time to prune is winter, when most trees are dormant and their structure is plainly visible without leaves or other greenery. A trained arborist can spot dead wood even in these conditions.
Founded in 1986, Dorshak Tree Specialists brings a team of certified arborists to inspect and evaluate every project, whether tree trimming or removal, stump grinding, planting, treatments or diagnoses. The family-owned company is a multi-year Super Service Award winner with Angie’s List, and accredited with an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
