Farbman Group, a leading full-service real estate company, announced today the firm has extended the rights to Chase Tower’s current art installation, Gild The Lily (Caribbean Hybrid, I, II, III) by Sculpture Milwaukee artist Carlos Rolón, for another year. Farbman Group CEO Andrew V. Farbman made the announcement.

“Integrating our company in the local communities in which we work, live and play has always been an important part of our organization,” said Farbman. "Carlos Rolón’s installation in the Chase Tower has become a staple of the architectural aesthetic of the building, so much so that we couldn’t imagine Chase Tower without it anytime soon. Thanks to Rolón’s creative prowess and Sculpture Milwaukee’s partnership, the building is a standout in the downtown Milwaukee business district and admired by the hundreds of people who work within the building."

Sculpture Milwaukee is a non-profit organization transforming downtown Milwaukee’s cultural landscape every year with an outdoor exhibition of world-renowned sculpture that serves as a catalyst for community engagement, economic development and creative placemaking. Rolón’s art was installed into the Chase Tower in 2019 for Sculpture Milwaukee, where Rolón sheathed the outside of the lobby cube of the Chase bank building with a translucent diorama of tropical flowers, making the “bird cage” lobby the largest sculpture in the region. The installation is a reproduction of the artist’s original triptych painting.

“As an artist, it’s extremely rewarding for people to identify a building known for its modernist importance with a body of work you have personally created,” said Rolón. “I couldn’t be happier that Farbman Group decided to extend my installation, and thus, invested in keeping this visual piece on display for passersby to enjoy for another year.”

By turning the transparent lobby into a glowing jewel box, Rolón’s installation serves as a flame that attracts to a key city intersection, where east meets west, north meets south, and where water meets street. Rolón’s unexpected cube will connect to the summer sky, the blue water of the Milwaukee river, and concrete that flows beneath and through the lobby space. Rolón’s luminous beacon signals the reinvigorated vibrancy of Milwaukee’s downtown.
