Fewer Milwaukee County Swimming Pools, Splash Pads Open This Year

MILWAUKEE, WI — More Wisconsinites are flocking to bodies of water to cool off as the summer heat ramps up. However, the Milwaukee County Parks system lists only a few water parks, outdoor pools and splash pads open this summer due to personnel shortages.

Out of seven swimming pools, only two are open. The county website says that all indoor swimming pools are closed. Many splash pads and wading pools are closed and some are to be determined whether they will open or not. However three out of four county water parks are open this summer.

Here's a list of pools in Milwaukee County that are still open this summer:

  • Sheridan Park Pool, 4800 S. Lake Dr., Cuhday, WI 53110
  • Wilson Park Pool, 4001 S. 20th St., Milwaukee, WI 53221

These water parks will remain open too:

  • Cool Waters Aquatic Park, 2028 S. 124th St., West Allis, WI 53227
  • Schulz Aquatic Park, 1301 W. Hampton Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53209
  • TOSA Pool at Hoyt Park, 1800 N. Swan Blvd, Wauwatosa, WI 53226

The parks system says that the remaining pools are closed due to lifeguard shortages. Bradford Beach will be open without any lifeguards on duty.
