How To Avoid Eviction In Milwaukee During Coronavirus Moratorium
Renters hoping to avoid eviction must submit certain documents to their landlords to qualify.
MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee alderman Khalif J. Rainey on Wednesday reminded residents that certain steps must be taken to be protected from eviction.
Through a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention program, some renters cannot be evicted during the coronavirus pandemic. Rainey said that to qualify, residents are required to first submit documentation to their landlords.
The document, available online, certifies that renters have tried in good faith to make payments but were negatively affected by the coronavirus economy. It must be completed, signed and presented to a landlord.
