Jessie Garcia Returning to WTMJ 4: Report

Garcia was a sports anchor and reporter at WTMJ 4 for more than 20 years from 1994 to 2015. Here's her new role:

MILWAUKEE, WI -- A Milwaukee television station is bringing back a popular former anchor in a new role, the station announced today.

According to WTMJ 4, they're bringing back veteran journalist Jessie Garcia, although this time in a much different role. Garcia has been hired as Broadcast Director for Milwaukee's NBC affiliate. In this management role, Garcia will work behind the scenes to guide the day-to-day production of TV newscasts, the television station reported.

Garcia was a sports anchor and reporter at WTMJ 4 for more than 20 years from 1994 to 2015. Since leaving the station, she Jessie has authored a book, My Life With The Green and Gold, and has been teaching journalism, most recently at UW-Milwaukee.

Jeff Kiernan, senior director or local content for TODAY'S TMJ4 said in a statement, "Jessie's varied experiences on-air and off-air and her deep knowledge of Milwaukee make her the right person at the right time to take on the Broadcast Director role. Her creativity and time spent away from the day-to-day broadcast business will be a strong and fresh addition to our newsroom."

Garcia begins at the station on January 2.
