Wisconsin Coronavirus: 3,875 Cases, 197 Deaths

The latest numbers from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services show 154 more coronavirus cases and 15 more deaths from Wednesday.

WISCONSIN — The number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in Wisconsin reached 3,875 Thursday afternoon, an increase of 154 cases from Wednesday, according to the latest data from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. An additional 15 deaths from the illness brought the state's death toll to 197 as of Thursday afternoon.

According to health officials, 1,121 patients in Wisconsin have required hospitalization. While over 3,700 patients have tested positive for the virus, nearly 41,000 tests have come back negative for COVID-19.

Milwaukee County leads the state with the most number of people infected: 1,947 cases and 114 deaths, making up more than half of the state's total death toll. Dane and Waukesha counties have the second and third highest number of cases, respectively.

Black residents in Wisconsin make up 25 percent of the total cases in the state and 39 percent of deaths. According to the U.S. Census, black Americans make up 6.7 percent of the state's population, indicating racial disparities in the virus' spread.
