Marquette Orders Dorm Quarantine After Coronavirus Outbreak
According to information posted on Marquette's website, there have been 57 COVID-19 cases reported since Aug. 21.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Students in a Marquette University residence hall have to quarantine for the next two weeks after an apparent coronavirus outbreak on campus.
In a letter that was published late Monday, Marquette officials ordered that Schroeder Hall residents need to quarantine for 14 days. That quarantine started 10 p.m. Monday, the letter stated. "Students should not leave the building to attend classes or for any other reason except for a medical appointment," according to the university.
According to Marquette officials, 373 residents live in Schroeder Hall. Roughly 3 percent of those residents have tested positive for COVID-19. The dorm is located on the corner of N. 13th Street and W. Wells St. in Downtown Milwaukee.
According to information posted on Marquette's website, there have been 57 COVID-19 cases reported since Aug. 21. Of those 57 cases, 51 were students and six were faculty or staff members.

University data shows the campus had a spike in cases between Sep. 8-11, when the university saw 4, 6, 10 and 7 cases respectively.
The university has asked Schroeder Hall residents to stay in the hall, and not move out for at least two weeks out of COVID-19 transmission concerns.

All Schroeder Hall residents who have not been tested for COVID-19 this week will be required by the Milwaukee Health Department to be tested this week.
Residents who test positive will be directed to isolate in university-identified isolation space, university officials said. Violation of isolation or quarantine directives will result in university sanctions via the student conduct process and/or placed under an order by the Milwaukee Health Department.
The Schroeder Hall dining facility will be available to Schroeder Hall residents in quarantine for carry out only. The Schroeder Hall dining facility will not be open to non-Schroeder Hall residents until the quarantine is lifted.
