Milwaukee County Correctional Officer Charged In Sex Assault Case

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — A correctional officer is in jail and charged with sexual assault following an allegation deputies received from a woman in custody in the county jail, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said it received the allegation on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021. Following the alarming news, deputies said they began quickly developing information to make an arrest of the correction officer on Friday.

Deputies describe the correctional officer as a 25-year-old Franklin man who has been with the sheriff's office since 2018. He is currently being held in custody, pending a review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.

Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell R. Lucas issued the following statement regarding the investigation:

"An allegation of this nature not only brings dishonor the sheriff's office and our profession but violates the public trust that we work so diligently to uphold. Our investigation and arrest affirm our commitment to the public that we hold ourselves to a higher standard and that conduct of this nature will not be tolerated."

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said it continues to investigate this case.
