Milwaukee Had Highest Snow Depth In January - Most In 10 Years

On Monday, the National Weather Service confirmed that Milwaukee saw 23.3 inches of snow in January—the most for that month since 2005.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee residents have certainly seen way more than their fair share of snow in 2021. So much snow, that the city has hit a "weather milestone" of sorts, according to the National Weather Service.

On Monday, the National Weather Service confirmed that Milwaukee saw 23.3 inches of snow in January—the most for that month since 2005.

While Milwaukee currently has its highest snow depth in 10 years (16 inches), the max snow depth for 2020 was only five inches, the NWS reports. This was the lowest in a year since 1953.

Unfortunately, residents are not out of the woods yet. The cold weather and snow aren't going away just yet.

"We're looking at some of the coldest temperatures we've seen thus far coming up this weekend into early next week," the National Weather Service said via Twitter. "Expect temperatures to be refined as we get closer, but expect conditions to turn bitterly cold this weekend!"
