'Sex Survey’ Sent To WI 10th Graders Not Authorized, School Says

Quickly, your smart start to the weekend, includes a vaccine "honor system," a body pulled from Lake Michigan, and a meteor.

METRO MILWAUKEE, WI — A “sex survey” sent by a teacher to a class of Brookfield Central High School 10th graders was not authorized by school officials, leading Elmbrook School District officials to apologize to parents and families this week.

The survey, which anonymously asked students about their sexual history and behaviors, was addressed at a Tuesday school board meeting where parent Heidi Harrison voiced her disapproval to members.

"This should not be asked of our 10th grade children or any children underage," Harrison said.

The survey was meant to start a conversation about abstinence and behaviors that can lead to sexually transmitted infections, Brookfield Central Principal Brett Gruetzmacher said in a statement.

The district did not reveal which teacher sent the survey or whether they would face consequences. Read more by Karen Pilarski for Brookfield Patch
