Thunderstorms With Threat Of Downpours Expected Wednesday

The National Weather Service says there is a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms tonight, with the risk of lightning and heavy downpours.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Thunderstorms, with the risk of heavy downpour, are expected to move through southern Wisconsin Wednesday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the region, including Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Waukesha and Dane counties. The main risk from the storms will be cloud to ground lightning and heavy downpours.

In its short range forecast, the NWS writes that there is a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms over the Midwest Wednesday and into the rest of the week, carrying into the weekend.

The bulk of the storms are expected Wednesday evening and on Sunday after a brief drop between Thursday evening and Friday evening.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 8 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around 60. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. North wind 10 to 15 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. North wind around 5 mph becoming east in the afternoon.

Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
