Vaccine Scheduling Website, Phone Number Went Live Wednesday
City launched these new tools to help people sign up for a COVID-19 vaccine.
MILWAUKEE, WI —The city announced a plan Tuesday for two new tools designed to make it easier for people to register for a COVID-19 vaccine. On Wednesday, a new website and phone hotline went live, allowing those eligible to schedule vaccinations at the Wisconsin Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave., according to WISN.com.
The website is city.milwaukee.gov/CovidVax. The phone number, 414-286-6800, is for people without internet access. Appointments are limited based on supplies.
According to WISN.com, those eligible for the vaccine are the Phase 1A group and the 65 and older groups in Phase 1B. The Milwaukee Health Department lists Phase 1A as frontline healthcare personnel, while the Phase 1B eligible groups include: individuals 65 years and older who are residents of the City of Milwaukee and individuals age 65 years and older who are employed by the City of Milwaukee.

Marlaina Jackson, Milwaukee's interim health commissioner, told WISN.com that respondents to the site and phone number initially will be prompted by a series of screening questions.
"Those screening questions are purposeful and meant to make sure that individuals that are not appropriate at this time for scheduling a vaccine are screened out," Jackson told WISN.com.

Jackson said said those not eligible who sign up will be canceled out of the appointment schedule and replaced by eligible people. Jackson also told WTMJ that individuals will have their ID checked when they arrive for the shot.
According to WISN, the city is giving up on the the HealthyMKE website, which only allowed residents to subscribe to an email update list and not a vaccine.
