METRO MILWAUKEE, WI — Walk-in coronavirus vaccine clinics opened in Milwaukee this week as the state of Wisconsin continues to expand vaccine eligibility.

More than 50 people lined up outside North Division High School on Monday morning, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. The facility serves as a walk-in vaccine clinic for residents of 10 ZIP codes that rank high in vulnerability to COVID-19 and other issues.

The sites also opened as the number of Wisconsin residents able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine expanded to include those ages 16 and older with pre-existing medical conditions.

Evela Anderson, 64, was one of the first people in line to receive the vaccine at North Division High School.

"This is important because this is such a dangerous, unpredictable virus," she told the Journal Sentinel. The sooner people get vaccinated, she said, the sooner the world can reopen safely and people can return to being around each other.
