1,000 To 'Walk For Israel' This Sunday

This is Wisconsin's largest celebration of Israel and recognizes Israeli Independence Day. Here is how to participate in the walk:

MILWAUKEE, WI – The Jewish and interfaith community will celebrate 70 years of Israel’s statehood on Sunday, April 22 with a two-mile solidarity walk for Israel in the North Shore followed by a public celebration at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center.

This is Wisconsin’s largest celebration of Israel and recognizes Israeli Independence Day, known as Yom HaAtzmaut. Past walks have attracted over 1,000 participants and community leaders.

What: Walk for Israel and Israeli Independence Day celebration
When: Sunday, April 22, 3-6:30 p.m.
Where: Harry & Rose Samson Family JCC, 6255 N. Santa Monica Blvd. (Opening Ceremony/Walk departure on the basketball court near North parking lot/Peck entrance)

The event is organized by the Israel Center of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center.

Timing and highlights of the celebration include:

3 p.m. — Opening Ceremony, including walk participants forming a large Star of David

3:30 p.m. — Two-mile solidarity Walk for Israel

4:30-6:30 p.m. — Celebration activities, including Israeli musician Rami Feinstein, local musicians, magician, camel rides, Israeli films, food, face painting for kids and more.
