After 10 months of collaboration, it appears Superintendent Blane McCann is ready to present an employee handbook to the Shorewood School Board for approval.
In mid-August, Shorewood — like school districts around the state — set out to draft a new handbook that would set work rules on matters that used to be negotiated with the teachers union, such as benefits, hours and among other items. After the passage of the state budget repair bill, only wages are negotiated now.

, and even though the district is no longer required to negotiate with the teachers under state law, McCann and other school officials have been meeting with stakeholders, collaborating on the handbook.
School Board members are scheduled to vote on a proposed handbook and teacher’s appendix, which outlines benefits and compensation, at a meeting set for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Library, 1701 E. Capitol Dr.
