Anyone 12 And Up Now Eligible For Pfizer Vaccine

SHOREWOOD, WI — Anyone 12 or older can now get the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine following revised FDA emergency use authorization (EUA), according to an FDA press release.

Wisconsin confirmed eligibility for all individuals 12 and up. Only the Pfizer vaccine is available to those between 12 and 16, according to a DHS press release.

The decision comes after the FDA determined the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks, according to an FDA press release.

The Johnson & Johnson and Moderna vaccines are only FDA authorized for those 18 or older. This new group can only get vaccinated at locations where Pfizer is in stock, according to a DHS press release.

The estimated 300,000 people in this freshly eligible demographic should not face shortages of Pfizer as there is enough allocated in the future across Wisconsin, according to Jennifer Miller from the Wisconsin DHS.

The Wisconsin DHS encourages parents to vaccinate their children against COVID-19 with the Pfizer shot, Miller said.
