'Emergency Fundraiser' To Bring Madison Marching Band To July 4

The Shorewood Band Parents Association hopes to bring the Echoes of Camp Randall marching band to Shorewood's 4th of July.

SHOREWOOD, WI — The Shorewood Band Parents Association has launched a fundraiser to sponsor a "world class" marching band from Madison to perform at this year's 4th of July parade in Shorewood, the association announced.

The emergency fundraiser will attempt to secure $2,100 to sponsor a performance from the University of Madison's Echoes of Camp Randall marching band, the association said. The marching band is made up of UW-Madison students, including several Shorewood Band alumni, the association said.

"This talented group is an inspiration to future and current Shorewood Band students, and possibly a motivation for our graduates to continue with band after high school," the association said on its website.

If successful, the fundraiser will bring the music, dancing and fun of a "5th Quarter" performance to the Shorewood 4th of July parade, SBPA said.

The fundraiser has been deemed a necessity this year because the group missed the deadline to benefit from village parade funds, the association said. Instead, the association will attempt to raise the sponsorship costs, and will use any remaining donations toward the 2021-22 school year.
