High Holiday Fair this Sunday at Atwater Park
High Holidays to come alive Sunday morning at this FREE event!

The High Holidays are around the corner! Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, begins at sundown on Wednesday, September 20, and continues until nightfall on September 22. The holiday is celebrated by Jews around the world with many traditions, including eating apples dipped in honey, the blowing of the Shofar (ram's horn), and prayer for a sweet new year.
This year, the traditions will come alive at a first-ever High Holiday Fair at Atwater Park in Shorewood, hosted by Chabad of the East Side. This Sunday, September 10, from 10am-12pm, all are welcome to join in the fun. The fair is a free event that is open to the entire Jewish community, and it will feature many exciting booths that appeal to all ages. Some of the activities include: challah (traditional Jewish bread) shaping, honey cake making, honey dish decorating, new year cards, chocolate dipped apples, and more!
"We are excited to bring the joy of the new year to the entire community," says Mushka Lein, program director at Chabad of the East Side. "We want the upcoming holidays to be meaningful and current to the participants, and what better way than by beginning the celebrations a little early?"
