Man Arrested for 2 Burglaries in Shorewood, Whitefish Bay: Report

Home break-ins, a stolen car and credit card fraud were all part of four related burglaries in the North Shore, police say.

SHOREWOOD, WI — Authorities in Milwaukee County say a 22-year-old Mequon man has been arrested and charged after he took part in four burglaries: two in Shorewood and two more in Whitefish Bay.

Authorities say Jermaine E. Washington of Mequon has been charged with four counts of burglary as a party to the crime. He's currently being held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $1,000 cash bond. He's due back in court on Jan. 13 for his preliminary hearing.

According to a criminal complaint, Shorewood officers were originally called to a home on the 4000 block of N. Richland Court at just after 5 a.m. on Dec. 4 on a report of a burglary.

The homeowners told police that someone stole their 2012 Honda CRV, laptop computer, purse and wallet from inside their home. Police said they later found the CRV in an alley behind a garage on the 4100 block of N. Downer Ave. at the scene of another burglary.

Whitefish Bay House Burglarized; Man Arrested And Charged

Police in Whitefish Bay say they arrested a 22-year-old Milwaukee man who is accused of being one of three people responsible for a burglary that is connected with this case.


According to police, a homeowner on the 4100 block of N. Downer Ave. reported having a wallet, a coach purse, a pair of diamond earrings, and more than $800 in cash stolen from her home. The homeowner also said a backpack had also been stolen.

According to the criminal complaint, a third burglary complaint was fielded on Dec. 9 in Whitefish Bay. This one happened on the 1900 block of E. Cumberland Blvd.

In that case, a homeowner called police, saying that someone drove her Audi out of her garage and into her Honda van. The homeowner said she heard the crash and saw two suspects exit the Audi and run away at just after 3 a.m.

According to the criminal complaint, police searched the area and could not find anyone.

Police fielded a fourth burglary complaint, this time later on Dec. 9 in the 2100 block of Whitefish Bay. Police said a homeowner on the 2100 block of E. Glendale Ave. reported that someone entered their home and stole credit cards that were inside a purse.

According to reports, police caught up with a suspicious vehicle at 4 a.m. on Dec. 9 in Whitefish Bay. Police said the passenger in that vehicle, later identified as Washington, was arrested.

Police say they questioned Washington, who admitted that he, Matthew Owens and a third person burglarized the home on E. Cumberland Blvd. and were similarly involved in a burglary on E. Glendale Ave.

According to the criminal complaint, Washington admitted to taking part int he two burglaries on Dec. 4: the one on N. Downer Ave. and the other on N. Richland Court.
