Man Broke Into House, Also Tried Stealing Car: Shorewood Police
Police said the vehicle thief crashed into a patio fence while trying to back out and abandoned the car.

SHOREWOOD, WI — Police in Shorewood say somebody broke into a house, and tried stealing a car. Police also said the incident may be related to other car break-ins from overnight.
According to Shorewood police, people living at a home on the 2400 block of E. Menlo Blvd. woke up just after 4 a.m. Wednesday by a person attempting to steal their vehicle from the driveway.
Police said the vehicle thief crashed into a patio fence while trying to back out and abandoned the car. After crashing the car, police said the car thief ran away.

Police said the home owners discovered their home was entered through an unlocked rear door, where the vehicle keys had been taken along with some cash.
Shorewood Police also received a report that unlocked vehicles were entered on the 3500 block of Hackett overnight.

Police said they believe these incidents are possibly related. Police in a bulletin reminded local residents to keep homes and vehicles locked.
