Police Report: 2 Arrested for Pot Possession; Cross-Dressing Walgreens Cigarette Shoplifter

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

A 24-year-old woman and 27-year-old man, both from Milwaukee, were arrested Monday afternoon after police found marijuana during a traffic stop near the intersection of North Oakland Avenue and East Menlo Boulevard.

Police conducted the traffic stop at 1:47 p.m. after discovering the car didn't have proper registration. An officer smelled marijuana during the stop, and following a search of the car, found the marijuana.

  • Police say a man dressed as a female made off with two cartons of Newport 100s from , 4081 N. Oakland Ave., Friday morning. The suspect fled on foot from the store at 10:33 a.m., with the $134 worth of cigarettes. Police haven't made any arrests. 
  • A $25 purse, containing a credit card and blank check, was stolen from an unlocked car sometime between 5 p.m. on Friday and 9:45 p.m. on Saturday. The car was parked on the street in the 4400 block of North Woodruff Avenue.
  • A 16-year-old Fox Point girl was taken into custody early Saturday morning after she was pulled over while riding a moped and lied about her date of birth, to avoid a curfew violation. She was also cited for possession of tobacco by a minor, after she was found with a pack of cigarettes. 
  • Sometime between 7:15 and 8:15 p.m. on Friday, two cable locks were cut and three bicycles taken from a bike rack at , 4121 N. Wilson Dr. The bicycles and a bicycle trailer are valued at $1,100.
  • Two bicycles were reported stolen from the 4100 block of North Ardmore Avenue on Saturday morning. The bicycles, which are valued at $185, were locked to a street sign at the time of the theft.
  • Sometime between 2:30 and 5 p.m. on Sunday a cable lock was cut and two bicycles stolen from the 4100 block of North Ardmore Avenue. The bicycles and lock are valued at $120. 
  • About $200 in damage was caused when the front window of an apartment in the 4400 block of North Oakland Avenue was busted out. The incident occurred at 1:23 p.m. on Sunday.
