Police Report: 2 Nabbed for Stealing Condoms; Man Pilfers Quarters from Washing Machine

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

A 45-year-old Oak Creek man and 57-year-old Milwaukee man were arrested Wednesday, after they attempted to leave without paying for a $21 box of condoms.

Staff at the retail store at 4081 N. Oakland Ave. phoned police after they spotted the men conceal the condoms inside a black plastic bag and attempt to leave the store.

The two were stopped and confronted by store employees while police responded.

  • Police say a man illegally entered an apartment building and stole an unknown amount of quarters from a washing machine Monday. At about 9:20 p.m., the man crawled through a window into the basement of the apartment building in the 4000 block of North Morris Boulevard, according to the police report. He then pried open a washing machine, and grabbed the coins. Police have no suspects.
  • Staff at , 4081 N. Oakland Ave., called police Wednesday after a man concealed four packs of Gillette Fusion razors and left the store without paying for them. The razors were valued at $145. Police have no suspects.
  • A Shorewood woman called police Tuesday to report eight credit cards had been opened in her name and used in Texas. An amount of fraudulent charges wasn't immediately available from police. The victim has canceled the cards police say.
  • Police have made an arrest in connection with the theft of a cell phone from the pavilion on Thursday. A $75 LG cell phone was taken from the village-owned building at the top of the beach's bluff, which was opened at the time with staff working on the beach, sometime between 1:30 and 2 p.m. The property has been returned to its owner. Police didn't immediately have information available related to the suspect.
  • A $40 green Mongoose bicycle was reported stolen from the bicycle racks at , 1325 E. Capitol Dr., on Thursday. The bicycle was unlocked at the time of the theft.
  • Sometime between 12:15 and 12:50 p.m., a $250 Giant brand bicycle was taken from the garage of a home in the 3800 block of North Morris Boulevard. A $25 bicycle that didn't belong to the garage owner was found left by the thief(s).
  • A license plate was reported stolen from a motorcycle while it was parked in the 4200 block of North Lake Drive on Wednesday. The theft occurred sometime overnight.
