Police Report: Man Evades Police; OWI Arrest after Driver Crashes Into Parked Car

After being pulled over for speeding Monday morning on the Estabrook Parkway, police say a male driver with two children in his car sped off in an effort to evade authorities, reaching speeds of 80 MPH while weaving through traffic.
At 7:45 a.m. police say they stopped the man for driving 64 MPH in a 25-MPH zone in the 4200 block of the Estabrook Parkway.
After the driver presented an officer with his state ID card during the traffic stop, police learned there was a felony warrant for him.

When another squad arrived at the scene, after an officer called for back-up, the suspect took off toward East Capitol Drive, and turned west onto Capitol at estimated speeds of 80 MPH.
An investigation is ongoing.

Also in the police report:
- Police arrested a man for operating while intoxicated early Sunday morning after he crashed into a parked car in the 1400 bock of East Lake Bluff Boulevard. Police say while investigating the car accident at 3:43 a.m., they observed the driver had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. The man failed field sobriety tests and later registered a 0.10 blood alcohol content during a Breathalyzer. It’s his first OWI offense.
- On May 17, police say they received a report of a Shorewood Intermediate School student threatening to blow up the school at 3830 N. Morris Blvd. The student walked into a classroom at 10:40 a.m. and made the statement, which was later determined to be non-credible, police say. The student was disciplined.
- A Shorewood Intermediate School student told police May 17 a man driving in a car near the school at 3830 N. Morris Blvd. repeatedly offered to give her a ride.
- About $200 in damage was reported to a business sign of Bella Hair Salon, 1522 E Capitol Dr. The damage occurred sometime overnight on May 16.
