Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele took heat for tearing down a historic $2.6 mil Eschweiler mansion. Here's what he wants to do next:
SHOREWOOD, WI — Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele's plans to build a new mansion on the 3500 block of N. Lake Drive in Shorewood goes before the village's Design Review board on Aug. 22, and plans for the new home have been obtained by Shorewood Patch.
Abele is probably best known over the last year for purchasing a $2.6 million Eschweiler-designed mansion at 3534 N. Lake Drive, and tearing it down in order to build a home based on his own tastes.
The former home, known as the Charles and Laura Albright House, was considered one of the most spectacular and significant homes in Shorewood.

This historic property - which was not listed on the National Register of Historic Places - was razed in June at a cost of about $40,000.
In its place will be a 17,000 square foot mansion designed by Northworks Architects out of Chicago. The building features a terraced lakeside facade with a second-story lawn area and an infinity pool. The west side of the building presents an iron-gray neoclassical facade that's symmetrical and presents two small wings across its two stories.
