Shorewood Accepting Block Party Requests; Defers Active Streets
Block parties are limited to five per weekend and are approved on a first come, first served basis.

SHOREWOOD, WI — Shorewood officials have are now accepting block party applications, though stopped short of adding more active streets to the village's list of pedestrian-friendly blocks.
Shorewood and the other North Shore communities are in Phase C of the North Shorewood Health Department’s reopening guidelines for businesses and other activities which allows gatherings of 50 people or fewer.
As a result, Shorewood officials said the Village will move forward with approving block party applications, though there are specific guidelines recommended by the North Shore Health Department about mass gatherings.

Applications must be submitted to the Clerk and Customer Service Department at least two weeks prior to the requested date. Printed copies can be dropped in the drop box in the parking lot behind Village Hall. They can also be emailed to cs@villageofshorewood.org.

Active Streets Deferred
Village officials say they're postponing adding any more active streets to the village after hearing opposition from community members. According to Shorewood common council minutes from June 15, village staff sent out almost 200 letters to property owners for feedback. Officials said they received a large amount of opposition to the active streets.
The Village Board decided to defer adding more locations to the active streets program. This means the 4400 block of Marlborough Dr., 4400 block of Wildwood Ave., 1100 block of Congress St., 4100 block of Stowell Ave., and 2500 block of Wood Pl. will not become active streets unless the Board wishes to reconsider the agenda item.
Estabrook Parkway is an active street for community members to utilize.
