Shorewood Car Thieves Needed 22 Seconds To Make 2 Getaways

According to Shorewood police, both vehicles were left running and unattended when they were taken.

SHOREWOOD, WI — Authorities in Shorewood say that thieves have stolen two vehicles in the village over the last week — each one stolen in a matter of seconds.

According to Shorewood police, both vehicles were left running and unattended when they were taken. One of the thefts was captured on a video doorbell. A vehicle was left running and unattended in the driveway of the victim's house.

Police say a vehicle was seen approaching the running car. The suspects' vehicle drives into an alley adjacent to the victim's driveway and a suspect was seen exiting the passenger side, opening the unlocked door of the running vehicle, and hopping in. Within 22 seconds, both vehicles drive off.

"Once again, the police department reminds residents to never leave any vehicle unoccupied while running or with keys inside in order to warm it up. Protect your vehicle! Lock it and take the keys every time," Shorewood police said in a statement this weekend.
