Shorewood Coach, Swimmer Receive Top Honors
Rob McCabe was named Division 2 swim coach of the year, and Kristin Malone swimmer of the year by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Swim Coach Association.

Shorewood High School's swimming program garnered accolades this weekend, receiving awards for Division 2 coach of the year and swimmer of the year.
For the third time since 2001, Rob McCabe has been named coach of the year. He heads both SHS swim teams, as well as the Shorewood Swim Club. And, junior Kristin Malone was named swimmer of the year. The two were honored Sunday at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Swim Coach Association's annual banquet.
Malone is an 11-time conference champion, the state record holder in the 200-yard and 100-yard freestyle events and holds numerous school and pool records at SHS.

After she graduates from high school, Malone plans to continue swimming in college at the Division 1 level. Currently, she is keeping all her options open as potential schools are in the process of recruiting her, according to the district.
“Where ever Kristin decides to attend college, I am confident she will be a quality addition to their team,” McCabe said in a press release from the district.

“I am honored and thrilled to have won this award for the third time,” McCabe said. “This award is especially important to me because my professional peers voted on it. I would be totally remiss if I didn’t also thank and share this recognition with my Shorewood Greyhound athletes. The athletes’ dedication, drive to succeed and talents have allowed me to earn such an admiration among my colleagues.”
