Shorewood Family Thanks Donors At Milwaukee Bucks Blood Donation Drive

Many turned out Thursday to the BMO to donate for the BloodCenter of Wisconsin, which recently announced a severe shortage of donations.

MILWAUKEE - A Shorewood family whose daughter summer from Von Willebrand Disease, a common blood disorder, reached out to say "thank you" to those who donated Thursday at the 17th annual Milwaukee Bucks Blood Drive at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

According to Fox6, Katie Yost, the mother of seven-year-old Adelaide Yost, is a carrier for the disease and says it has caused her daughter a lot of bruising and bleeding and even landed her in the hospital a few years ago. Adelaide has to get several blood infusions each week, which wouldn't be possible without the help of donors.

The Bucks Blood Drive happened to coincide with the BloodCenter's recent announcement that it was in desperate need of all blood types. The center says they've received an overwhelming response to the shortage.
