Shorewood Man Arrested In Waukesha After Fight, Chase: Report

WAUKESHA, WI — Authorities in Waukesha say a fight and police pursuit resulted in a Shorewood man being arrested. He now faces multiple charges in the incident. A Patch reader recorded part of the incident she saw when she came home from work that night, calling the sight of police lining the street "quite a shocker."

According to Waukesha police call logs, officers were sent to the 700 block of Morgan Ave. just after 2 a.m. on Feb. 29 on a report of a fight.

Call logs state that there was a fight at an address that listed to the Finnagains Sports Bar. Call logs stated that one person had been briefly knocked out in the fight and that the man fled in a pickup truck.

Police call logs stated that police tracked down the man, and a chase ensued in which the driver was reportedly driving "all over the road" at up to 40 miles per hour.

Police call logs stated that the man struggled with officers and later had to be stunned with a stun gun multiple times in order to be subdued and taken into custody.

According to police, officers tracked down a bag containing an unspecified controlled substance that he had thrown out the window of his truck as he was being pursued by police.

According to court documents, a 25-year-old Shorewood man has been charged in the incident. The man, later identified by police as Benjamin E. Taylor of Shorewood, has been charged with fleeing an officer, battery to a law enforcement officer, his second drunken-driving offense, resisting an officer, possession of marijuana, substantial battery and disorderly conduct.

Court records show that Taylor is being held on a $5,000 cash bond, and will next appear in court on March 5 for a hearing.

A Patch reader who lives in the area emailed Waukesha Patch with photos and a video she recorded from the unfolding scene.

"Quite a shocker when I came home from work," she wrote Patch.
