"I am proud of all that we have achieved together so far, and I look forward to seeing the ways that our updated facilities will support all students at all schools as well as the larger community," Dr. Bryan Davis, Shorewood Schools Superintendent, wrote in a statement about the projects.
At Atwater some of the improvements in the works include the addition of a ramp into the front entrance of the school along with a wheelchair lift in the new lobby of the school. In the new student resource room, the lights can be dimmed or the color can be changed to make the students feel more comfortable. The school also includes an updated teacher work space with supplies and a conference room. Classrooms have been updated with new carpet, fresh paint, and new windows.

Lake Bluff also includes a new front ramp into the school and a new conference room. Efforts were made to preserve old elements of the school, including the fire places and stained glass. The kindergarten classrooms have been updated with custom, kid-friendly furniture. Each classroom also includes a restroom. The nurse's station was also updated.
At the high school, the front office was reconfigured and the former special education classroom has been turned into a life skills space with an apartment and learning space. Near the nurse's office, students will not have access to quarantine rooms, should they become ill at school. A gender-neutral bathroom is in the works that is also accessible to wheelchairs. The library construction portion will include a new conference room that contains a green screen for students to make video projects. A portion of the library is being turned into a new classroom. The parking lot has been refinished and an addition is being added to the school.
Another detailed update on the facilities progress will be shared with families prior to the winter break.
