Shorewood Student Wins Statewide 'Athlete Of The Week'
The track and field athlete has won VNN Athlete of the Week. Delea Martins recieved a gold medal at the latest competition.

SHOREWOOD, WI— One rising track star at Shorewood High School is receiving new limelight with her nomination to the VNN Athlete of the Week, according to a Facebook post from Shorewood School District.
Delea Martins received the nomination for her performance at last weekend's track and field meet. The statewide VNN Athlete of the Week competition "highlights players that have made a splash in the world of high school sports," WisSports.net said about the competition.
The rising junior took home a gold medal for the 100 meter dash with a 12.07 second run, another victory for the 200 meter dash with a 25 second run and a second-place award for her 400 meter dash, which was 57.26 seconds, according to WisSports.net.

Martins overall scored 28 of the 52 team points that Shorewood Track and Field took home at this past weekend's meet, the report said.
Community members can vote for Martins in the weekly competition until 4 p.m. Thursday. Martins was nominated against high school students from Oshkosh, Mcfarland, Lodi and more.
