Shorewood Summer Concert Series: Mrs. Fun Hits the Hubbard Park Stage Wednesday

The Milwaukee duo, the second act in Shorewood's 10-week summer sounds concert series, brings its acid-jazz to Shorewood's venue by the Milwaukee River.

Shorewood’s summer-long concert series continues Wednesday, with hardcore electra-acid-jazz duo Mrs. Fun.

The Milwaukee-based duet of Connie Grauer and Kim Zick will play , 3565 N. Morris Blvd., starting at 6 p.m.

Grauer and Zick play “ a provocative blend of off-center jazz, ultra-funk, spoken word rap and their own brand of neo-cabaret,” their website says.

The two started in Nashville, TN, where they recorded with popular artists like singer/songwriter K.D. Lang and the Indigo Girls. They later collaborated with the Violent Femmes’ drummer Victor DeLorenzo, on several solo recordings, after the two relocated to Milwaukee. They now live in Shorewood.

They have won numerous Wisconsin Area Music Industry awards including best contemporary jazz group three years in a row in the early 90s.
