Shorewood Swimmer Competes Alongside Big Fish in Olympic Trials

Shorewood swimmer Rachel Munson placed 117th in a field of 152 as she took to the pool in U.S. Olympic Trials June 26.

The 14-year-old Shorewood High School sophomore was among thousands of swimmers who competed for a chance to represent the USA at the 2012 London Olympics.

Munson registered a time of 1:13.24 in the 100-meter breaststroke. She , during a Shorewood Swim Club competition in early June.

She was among some of the youngest swimmers in her event.

Munson is the top swimmer in national rankings for her age group this year. As a 12- and 13-year-old, Munson has been in the top 10 nationally for her swim times.

More than 50 swimmers from Wisconsin competed in the qualifying trials.
