Shorewood Village Board Approves 2021 Alley Program
The total 2021 alley program construction costs is estimated to be around $890,300, according to Shorewood village officials.
SHOREWOOD, WI — The Shorewood Village Board this week approved its 2021 alley program. Seven of the eight alley segments identified in the map below were approved to be incorporated in the program. Alley A will be deferred to the 2025 program.
The alleys in the 2021 program are primarily located north of Capitol Drive, village officials said. Staff plans to use available MMSD Green Solutions money to offset the cost of green alley features in selected alleys.
According to village officials, the TMDL Stormwater Management Plan recommends focusing the village's efforts in the municipal separate storm sewer area of the village (generally west of Oakland Avenue) to maximize the TMDL benefit.

As a reminder, TMDL stands for total maximum daily load, which describes the maximum daily load of a pollutant that a water body can assimilate and still meet water quality standards, village officials said.
Alleys labeled as G and H on the map below are identified as green alley candidates. Preliminary engineering of Alley A identified significant drainage issues that require correction. As such, Alley A was removed from the 2021 scope and is planned for reconstruction during the Village’s next alley program, anticipated in 2025.
