Village Pub Owner Throwing Party Thursday, Celebrating 7 Years in Shorewood

Even though the Village Pub and Grill has been a Shorewood mainstay for decades, Thursday marks seven years at the helm and behind the bar for owner Dennis Cox.

Cox invites the community to celebrate on Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., with a complimentary buffet, beer and shot specials, as well as prizes and giveaways during an anniversary party. 

The Village Pub, 4488 N. Oakland Ave., is a well-known part of the neighborhood, according to Cox, a Whitefish Bay native. It was established in 1963; Cox took over operations seven years ago after 30 years in the restaurant business. 

"It’s been around so long, and it’s not a chain restaurant," he said in a past Patch article. "It’s really like the old TV show ‘Cheers'."
