Explore the Milwaukee River Thursday

Continuing its slate of events aimed at educating residents on the village's two water sources, the Shorewood Waters Project is offering hip waders to residents so they can explore the Milwaukee River Thursday at 1 p.m. in Hubbard Park.

Continuing its slate of events aimed at educating residents about the two water sources bordering the village — Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee River — will hand out hip waders Thursday and encourage participants to explore the river's ecosystem.

Stroll the river, learn more about its critters and how water quality is measured at 1 p.m. in , 3565 N. Morris Blvd. The Water's Project is teaming up with the Urban Ecology Center, which has offered the program for more than a decade.

Space is limited and organizers ask participants to wear or bring along long socks.
