Where Are SHS Seniors Heading after Graduation?

It's the question that's likely been weighing on Shorewood High School seniors' minds for much of the school year: 

What are your plans after graduation?

Each year, SHS counselors survey seniors on their post-graduation plans. Then, Ripples, Shorewood High School's student newspaper, put together a visual representation of the Class of 2013's plans, plotting where students plan to head after graduation on a map of the U.S.

The number of students expected to graduate as a member of the class of 2013 is roughly 170 students. Of the 170 students:

• Roughly 90 percent of students plan to attend a two-year or four-year college or university. 

• Roughly 85 percent of the students that plan to continue their education will do so at a traditional four-year university, either in Wisconsin, or in another state/country. 

• Of the students who plan to attend a four-year school, 82 will stay in state, 47 will go to an out-of-state school, while five students have plans to attend an international university. 

• UW-Madison is the most popular in-state school, followed by UW-Milwaukee. 

• Twelve students plan to attend a two-year college, both in and out of state. 

• Milwaukee Area Technical College is the most popular two-year school. 

• Five students are entering "specialty universities" such as art or technology institutes. 

• Four students are still undecided about their plans for next year.
