Workout Then A Beer: Shorewood Brew Fitness Plans To Open In June

SHOREWOOD, WI—A new fitness studio opening soon in Shorewood on the corner of Oakland and Edgewood wants to incorporate craft beer into its workout programs, according to documents filed with the Village.

"Enjoying a local craft beer with your gym friends after a great workout has helped create the Milwaukee area's best fitness community," Brew Fitness said in documents filed with the Village.

The allure of craft beer comes in at the end of each workout. The studio filed documents for a Shorewood beer license so the reception desk can sell craft beer to studio members after workouts— the beers aren't just a quick post-workout thirst quencher, though.

The inclusion of beer is part of a community-building effort led by the studio. Brew Fitness focuses on creating a more inclusive fitness community with social events, camaraderie and engagement, documents filed with the Village said.

The studio features only local craft beers and regularly uses profits from beer sales to support community events and charities, the documents said. Brew Fitness donated over $25,000 to the community since its founding in 2017, the studio said in documents filed with the Village.

The soon-to-open studio in Shorewood would be Brew Fitness's second location, the first being in Milwaukee. The original Milwaukee studio was opened in 2017 with a mantra, "great people, great craft beer and the will to work hard and improve," Brew Fitness said on its website.

The studio offers group classes, personal training and events supporting a variety of workout programs and goals. Classes on kickboxing, yoga, powerlifting, cardio boxing and more are available through the studio, according to the Brew fitness website. Open gym times are also available at the studio.

As for the new planned Shorewood location, a charity recipient has already been planned: GiGi's Playhouse. The studio will raise money for the charity through GiGi FIT Acceptance Challenge events, documents filed with the Village said.

Brew Fitness will be open by the end of June at 3514 N. Oakland Avenue, documents said.
