12 Coronavirus Cases Reported In Mountain Brook Schools

Mountain Brook City Schools reported 12 cases of COVID-19 during the week ending Nov. 20.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — The Mountain Brook school system reported 12 cases of COVID-19 during the week ending Nov. 20. This number is based on self-reporting by the school system to the Alabama Department of Public Health.

Local education agencies are requested to enter the number of new COVID-19 cases among students and employees of which they are aware on a weekly basis. The ADPH does not indicate or imply that any or all of the cases reported were infected while at school facilities.

The Alabama State Department of Education has reported 2,261 cases of the virus in schools statewide, with 1,592 of those cases coming in the last week.

Mountain Brook's 12 cases are relatively low based on information from similar-sized school systems. Vestavia Hills, for example, reported 40 new cases of COVID-19 this past week. Homewood City Schools reported 29 cases.
