"The Mountain Brook school system has been such an amazing system for my family, and I truly want to give back," Comer said. "I hope that I can be a good collaborator on the board and a good communicator with the community. I’m excited about this opportunity."

Luckie has served on the board of education since 2011, including spending three years as its vice president. He is a 1972 Mountain Brook High School graduate and his three children also went through the school system.

As chairman and CEO of Luckie & Co., a marketing and communications firm, Luckie provided plenty of professional expertise to Mountain Brook Schools, according to a release.

"It has been a privilege and honor for me to serve on the board with a group of distinguished individuals and help guide a school system that means so much to me," Luckie said. "While a lot has changed, a lot has also stayed the same. During my time on the board, we have always made decisions in the best interest of our students."

When Comer replaces Luckie in June, she will join a board that already includes: Board President Nicky Barnes, Brad Sklar, Jeffrey Brewer, and Jenifer Kimbrough.

"It has been a pleasure to serve alongside Tommy and grow from his vast experience," Barnes said. "He has provided invaluable guidance to the school system for the past decade and leaves an enduring legacy. Nevertheless, we look forward to welcoming Anna and working with her to further the mission of Mountain Brook Schools"

Barnes continued: "The Mountain Brook Board of Education is committed to a forward-looking philosophy that ensures the provision of an effective, challenging and engaging education for every one of our students. We will continue upholding the standard of excellence that has long distinguished our school system."
