Another Unexplained Boom Heard Over Mountain Brook
The incident is one in a series of unexplained noises heard by Alabama residents in the past month.
MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — Residents in Mountain Brook reported that they heard yet another loud boom in the area around 7:30 a.m. Sunday. The incident is one in a series of unexplained noises heard by Alabama residents in the past month, this time in Mountain Brook, Forest Park and other surrounding areas.
The Jefferson County EMA told AL.com that it received a report of a double boom, though the second boom could have just been an echo, and that the organization has no further information at this time.
Booming noises have been heard across the state, including Oxford, Anniston, Center Point, Jasper, Gardendale and others. The National Weather Service has yet to discover the cause but said that earthquakes were unlikely. Meteorites and sonic booms are being explored as possible causes.
