Birmingham Clothing Retailer To Close Business After 45 Years

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A longtime clothing retailer will close its final store this year after 45 years in business in Birmingham. McMillan's Big & Tall will close its Galleria location, which was the lone store left in the longstanding clothing store chain.

Owner Autry McMillan told the Birmingham Business Journal this week he is retiring, after more than 50 years in the clothing business.

McMillan opened his first store in 1975 in Century Plaza in Birmingham's Eastwood community. The Eastwood location moved twice before closing a few years ago. The Galleria store has been open for 33 years.

McMillan's Big & Tall was the oldest big and tall clothing business in Alabama.
