Birmingham Historical Society, Friends of Jemison Park Partner for Lecture at Birmingham Botanical Gardens
The Birmingham Botanical Gardens will host a lecture on landscape architect Warren Manning.
MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — The landscape architect behind Mountain Brook Estates is getting the spotlight in a lecture hosted at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Sept. 27. The Birmingham Historical Society, in partnership with the Friends of Jemison Park, have teamed up with the Gardens to host the lecture on Warren Manning, led by Robin Karson, executive director of the Library of American Landscape History.
Manning, who was hired by Robert Jemison Jr. to develop the subdivision in the early 20th Century, established the nature-inspired suburban style of modern Mountain Brook, and is featured in the Library of American Landscape History's book "Warren H. Manning: Landscape Architect and Environmental Planner," which will be available for purchase at the event.
A reception at 5:30 p.m. will precede Karson's lecture, which will begin at 6. Admission is free, but seating is limited.
