Council Discusses Pedestrian Crossing In Mountain Brook Village

A possible pedestrian crossing over Montevallo Road in Mountain Brook Village was discussed by the Mountain Brook City Council.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - As the Lane Parke development project enters its next phase, the issue of pedestrian safety in Mountain Brook Village has become a topic of discussion. The Mountain Brook City Council this week looked at ways to address the issue by considering the possibility of a pedestrian crossing over Montevallo Road in the village.

A report by Village Living said the council specifically discussed the possibility of pedestrian crossing over Montevallo Road near Jemison Lane. A consultant told the council that several options for easing safety concerns during construction have been examined.

Striping on either Montevallo Road to the west of Jemison Lane or on Montevallo Road to the east of Jemison Lane was mentioned as an option, as was shifting traffic to accommodate a temporary pathway for pedestrians along the north side of Montevallo Road from Jemison Lane to Culver Road and a walkway inside the construction fencing.
