Felon Involved In November Car Chase Gets Federal Gun Charge

Eric Devaughn McAlpine, 24, was charged as a convicted felon in possession of a firearm in an incident occurred on Nov. 22.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — After the November police chase through Mountain Brook that ended in his arrest, a convicted felon has now been indicted by a federal grand jury on a gun charge.

Eric Devaughn McAlpine, 24, was charged as a convicted felon in possession of a firearm in an incident occurred on Nov. 22. McAlpine was caught speeding in a car reported stolen in Irondale around Montclair Road before leading Mountain Brook police on a chase to Cresthill Road and Hoadley Drive, where he lost control of the car and subsequently crashed in an embankment.

AL.com reports that McAlpine has multiple previous arrests for various crimes. He pleaded guilty to felony robbery in 2013, and has been arrested for assault and domestic violence.

Two months ago, McAlpine was arrested on charges of theft, burglary and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and was released after six days in jail after posting bond. He was also arrested, charged and indicted earlier this year for leaving the scene of an accident in which four people were injured or killed.
