MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — Auburn basketball player and Mountain Brook native Patrick Keim got a surprise after the Tigers' Dec. 6 game. Following the team's 80-55 win over Gardner-Webb, former walk-on Keim was given a full scholarship.
Keim, the team's only senior, has played in 40 games and scored 21 points over his career. Kaim was a standout during his time as a Mountain Brook Spartan and went on to join the Tigers as a walk-on, staying on for all four years.
"We've known for a while that we were going to honor Pat Keim with a scholarship," Coach Bruce Pearl said during his postgame press conference. "I asked the players, prior to making the announcement, what are some of the characteristics of this team? What's the personality of this team? They talked about some issues as far as character, and loving one another and forgiving one another and handling adversity; a lot of different things that we've been through. I said that's exactly right, and there's not a player in this locker room that embodies those characteristics more than Pat Keim."
