Girl Hospitalized In Crash After Being Accidentally Shot

Officers witnessed the car the child was in traveling at a high speed before crashing at the intersection of Montclair and Gaywood.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — Mountain Brook Police responded on Sunday to an accident, which injured a 6-year-old girl who had been accidentally shot by a sibling.

Police Chief Ted Cook said that officers witnessed the car the child was in traveling at a high speed before crashing at the intersection of Montclair Road and Gaywood Circle. The child was then taken to Children's of Alabama as Birmingham police showed up to the scene.

Investigators have yet to determine who owned the gun the girl was shot with or the circumstances that led to the shooting.
