Here Are The Best Cities For Raising A Family In Alabama
The Birmingham metro area boasts some of the best communities for families, according to a new report.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — When it comes to being conducive to raising a family, not all cities are the same. As the gap between cities most suitable for families and those that are least suited has grown significantly, a recent study reveals that the Birmingham metro area has some of the best communities in which to raise a family.
Parents in Alabama might wonder if they’ll be able to juggle competing priorities and costs. With Alabama home prices climbing and mortgage rates increasing, many families in the state might wonder where they can live and still make ends meet. To help out, researchers at LendingTree surveyed more than 100 cities in Alabama to find the best places for families to live.
The study identifies the places where parents can achieve higher incomes, secure affordable housing and still expect a good education for their kids.

Mountain Brook topped the list of cities in the state for families, followed by two other Birmingham metro communities in Vestavia Hills and Homewood. Chelsea came in at no. 10, to give the Birmingham area four of the 10 best cities in the state for families.
On the opposite end of the spectrum is Anniston, which the study found to be the most challenging place for young families in Alabama. Bessemer and Lanett rounded out the three least favorable spots in the state to raise families.
