MONTGOMERY, AL — A bill sponsored by Rep. David Faulkner (R-Mountain Brook) could pave the way for three of Mountain Brook's villages to become entertainment districts. A Birmingham Business Journal report said House Bill 479 passed committee and the House without opposition.

Under the new legislation, Mountain Brook Village, English Village and Crestline Village could be designated as entertainment districts, similar to designations of Pepper Place, 5 Points South, Uptown and Avondale in Birmingham and Stadium Trace Village in Hoover, Downtown Trussville and Rocky Ridge in Vestavia Hills.

What the designation means is that businesses with alcohol licenses can sell alcohol to be consumed off-premises within certain boundaries and hours.
